Ricardo Carvalho: 'Jose Mourinho can't live with defeat at Chelsea'

Ricardo Carvalho says that Jose Mourinho "can't live with defeat", but backs the Chelsea boss to recover from the team's bad spell.

AS Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho has claimed that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho "can't live with defeat", but expects the Portuguese coach to turn the club's fortunes around.

The current Premier League champions have managed to earn just 15 points from as many games in the top flight, which has left them two points above relegation.

Despite their poor domestic form, Chelsea can qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League if they earn a point against Porto on Wednesday night.

"If they qualify, I think that Chelsea can go a long way in the Champions League," The Mirror quotes Carvalho as saying. "They are not doing great in the Premier League, but they can knock out anyone in Europe.

"Mourinho can't live with defeat, that's why he isn't doing great. Despite that, I think he's the right man to turn things around at Chelsea."

Carvalho has played under Mourinho three times at Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
