Roberto Di Matteo says that Gary Cahill and David Luiz are not fit for Chelsea's match against Blackburn Rovers but could return to action in the Champions League final.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that defensive duo Gary Cahill and David Luiz will play no part in the Blues' final Premier League match against Blackburn Rovers.

The duo are racing to be fit for Chelsea's Champions League final against Bayern Munich, but Di Matteo has claimed that he will wait to consider the players' fitness ahead of the final at the Allianz Arena.

"David Luiz and Gary Cahill won't be available this Saturday," said Di Matteo. "We are obviously working our hardest towards next Saturday. We hope to have the whole group training next week.

"They have been out three or four weeks, it's not three or four months - at the end of the day with the suspensions we have to push them as hard as we can to be ready.

"We obviously tried to get them back as soon as possible, but they weren't ready. So now we try for the next game. They are at similar stages. In the last couple of days [before the final] we will see what kind of level they have reached."

The Blues will be without John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Raul Meireles in Germany on May 19 due to suspensions.
