Rafael Benitez says that the Chelsea fans got behind the team during today's 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez was pleased with the response of the fans during today's 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

The Spaniard claimed in midweek that sections of the Blues supporters were creating an uncomfortable atmosphere at Stamford Bridge because of their opposition to his tenure in West London.

However, he believes that the crowd were behind the team, despite some fans bringing banners calling for him to be ousted from his position.

"There were a lot of positives," Benitez told BBC Sport. "The reception from the crowd was quite good. I wanted everybody to stick together.

"You can see today the fans were behind the team."

Benitez has said that the Chelsea players are fully behind him.
