Kevin de Bruyne has remained coy on his future after his loan spell at Werder Bremen runs out at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old attacker joined the German club on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea last summer.
"It is not the right time to talk about my future," De Bruyne told Bild.
"I think I'll be ready two or three games before the end of the season. Maybe even after the season."
However, Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin is confident that he will convince De Bruyne to stay on at the club.
"We want to talk to [De Bruyne and his agent Patrick de Kosta] soon and find out where we're at," he said.
"It is important to get a feeling how Kevin and his agent judge the situation."
De Bruyne joined Chelsea from Genk in 2012.
