10:46pm The Chelsea fans sing "there's only one Di Matteo." Has Roman Abramovich seen enough to offer the Italian the job on a permanent basis? Surely he has.

10:44pm Here come the victorious Chelsea squad, led by Di Matteo.

10:42pm In all the drama, forgot to mention that Chelsea's victory has cost Spurs their slot in next season's competition.

10:31pm Incredible! Just incredible! Drogba, who is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, wins the Champions League for the Blues. It is the first time that the club has EVER won the competition.

10:21pm Penalties will be taken in front of the Bayern supporters.

10:19pm Stay right here for updates from every penalty. The way Chelsea's Champions League campaign has gone, it could be 20-19 in their favour!

10:18pm Who will take Chelsea's penalties? Drogba, Lampard and Mata surely? Who else? We're about to find out.

10:17pm Sorry to remind Chelsea fans, but the last time they faced a penalty shootout at this stage they lost to Manchester United.

Full time at the end of extra-time: Bayern 1-1 Chelsea - The 2012 Champions League will be decided on penalties.

ET 29 minTorres goes into the book for a foul on Coetento.

ET 28 min Two minutes until a penalty shootout. Bayern and Chelsea fans, who do you want taking your spot-kicks? Can Robben be trusted again!?

ET 25 min Oh, and Bayern have now had 18 corners!!

ET 24 min Very little to bring in the way of goalscoring chances, so we will bring you a stat! No English club has lost to a foreign club in the Champions League on penalties. Good omen for Chelsea?

ET 21 min Another chance, another failed attempt by Bayern. Lahm crosses for Gomez, who is unable to shake off Cahill (who is down with cramp) and the ball is cleared for a corner.

ET 17 min How are Bayern not in front?! Lahm's cross falls to Olic, who sends the ball inches past Cech's upright. Another escape in a long line for the Blues.

ET 16 min Both sides have taken to playing a long ball game as the legs grow even more tired.

ET 15 min Chelsea get the second half of extra-time underway.

HALF-TIME IN EXTRA-TIME: Bayern 1-1 Chelsea

ET 13 min This may be tempting fate but a number of Bayern players are looking tired. Passes that were earlier finding their intended target are now falling loose.

ET 11 min Regardless of the outcome, it must be said how well Chelsea's 'old guard' have played. In particular, Cole and Lampard, who have worked tirelessly throughout.

ET 9 min Bayern look shaken by Robben's penalty miss. There is a real chance for Chelsea here if they are positive enough.

ET 7 min The whole stadium is still stunned as Ribery is replaced by Ivica Olic. Bayern continue to attack.

ET 5 min CECH SAVES FROM PENALTY! Cech guesses right to deny Robben's effort. That's it, Chelsea will surely win this! Cannot believe it!

ET 3 min PENALTY TO BAYERN! Hero to villain for Drogba, who brings down Ribery. He can have no complaints. Robben has the ball, but Ribery is still down, delaying the penalty in the process.

9:41pm Extra-time is underway.

9:40pm Bit more on the Drogba goal. It came from Chelsea's first corner of the night. Furthermore, it was his ninth strike in nine finals. Incredible record!

9:38pm WOW! Neuer barely had anything to do for 88 minutes then bang, Drogba scores! All night Bayern have battered Chelsea, which makes you wonder if the Blues are destined to win this one way or another. Extra-time coming up.

FULL TIME: Bayern 1-1 Chelsea - Extra-time to be played.

90+3 min Drogba is standing over a free-kick 25 yards out. Is it written in the stars? We are about to find out... Well he couldn't have hit that any harder and with that the whistle goes!

90 min Stoppage time = three minutes. Surely Chelsea can't win this, can they?!

88 min GOAL! Bayern 1-1 Chelsea - Drogba In the words of a high pitched Gary Neville: "UN-BELIEV-ABLE" What a header from Drogba. He powers in a corner from Mata. That man cannot stop scoring in finals. Are Chelsea seriously going to let him leave on a free transfer?

86 min Goalscorer Muller goes off to be replaced by Daniel Van Buyten. Has the young German international won his club the European Cup for a fifth time? It looks that way.

83 min Torres is on for Chelsea in place of Kalou. Can the Spanish striker repeat his semi-finals heroics?!

82 min GOAL! Bayern 1-0 Chelsea - Muller At last! Finally the German's pressure has told! Muller escapes Cole for the first time tonight and the German heads the ball into the ground before the ball loops in over Cech. Bayern deserve it.

81 min Cole goes into the book for a late challenge on Muller. The England full-back, who has been on top form tonight, will have to be careful now.

80 min Ten minutes until extra-time.

78 min It's Muller, he must score! You guessed it, he missed! And badly! The attacking midfielder gets his balance all wrong ten yards from goal as the ball trickles out for a goal kick.

76 min Make that 16!!

75 min Corner count is up to 15 and to our recollection, Bayern haven't caused danger from any. What do they do in training!?

73 min Another chance for Chelsea - what is going on! Neuer fails to keep hold of Cole cross but Drogba's rebound effort his lacking in power which allows the keeper to make amends.

72 min Adventurous from Chelsea. At last! Only a last-ditch header from Tymoshchuk stops Kalou from surely heading the Blues in front. Meanwhile, Bertrand's debut is over as he is replaced by Florent Malouda.

70 min Twenty minutes until extra-time. Oh and Bayern have had 12 corners - in case you were wondering!!

69 min Have we flicked onto a re-run of Barcelona versus Chelsea from last month and not realised?! This game is identical. Bayern are neat and tidy in and around the Chelsea area, but do not really look like breaking through.

66 min Getting slightly bored of typing this now, but another Bayern corner comes to nothing as first Luiz, then Cole clear their lines for Chelsea.

63 min Ribery decides to have a go (why not, everybody else has!) But like the others before him he scuffs his shot off target following a neat dribble across the box.

60 min ANOTHER corner for Bayern. In all honesty, we've lost count! For the record, Schweinsteiger heads Ribery's outswinging cross harmlessly wide.

58 min Chelsea are actually enjoying a bit more possession since the restart. How advanced are Di Matteo's side willing to be?

56 min Bayern's Kroos tries his luck from a narrow angle, but the ball goes wide. Well wide in truth!

53 min The ball is in the net at last! But it won't count! Robben's blocked shot falls to Ribery, who strokes the ball into an empty net. However, the French international was in an offside position. Are Chelsea destined to win this?!

52 min Gomez goes down under a challenge from Cole inside the area. Bayern fans claim for a penalty but the Portuguese referee is having none of it.

50 min Drogba tries a pot shot from all of 35 yards for Chelsea, which flies harmlessly wide of Neuer's goal. Still, at least it is positive from the Ivorian.

47 min New half, but same old Bayern! Robben breaks free but he delays his cross to a waiting Gomez and Cole retreats to clear.

46 min Back underway at the Allianz Arena. Will it be red or blue celebrating at the end?

8:47pm Everton midfielder Phil Neville tips Chelsea to win on Twitter: "Munich put a lot of energy into that half could fade in second. Chelsea are right in this."

8:32pm Quite how Bayern are not winning this is baffling! Gomez has missed three chances that he would normally score in his sleep! Still despite the domination, the facts are that Chelsea are well in this final. Back in 15!

HALF-TIME: Bayern 0-0 Chelsea

45 min One added minute to be played.

44 min The Bayern faithful begin to find their voice as the half draws to a close. Can they inspire their side to find the net before the break?

42 min What is Gomez doing?! The normally lethal centre-forward lifts the ball well over the bar from 12 yards out. This is a man that has scored over 40 goals this season. Remarkable.

39 min ANOTHER chance goes begging for Bayern! Ribery's cross-shot finds Gomez, whose touch inside the area lets him down with the goal at his mercy. How many lives have Chelsea got tonight?

37 min Meanwhile, Lampard releases Kalou, who forces Neuer to make his first save of night with a rising effort. Comfortable for Germany's number one.

36 min Quite simply, Muller should do better! The attacking midfielder volleys wide of goal from all of ten yards out. Whisper it, but this is looking like Barcelona vs. Chelsea in the Nou Camp!

35 min It's Ribery's time to cause problems as he cuts inside from the left hand side before snatching at his shot, which hits the side netting.

33 min This time it's a dangerous free-kick for Chelsea as Boateng fouls Gary Cahill. Mata and Drogba standing over the ball, 25 yards from goal. BIG CHANCE coming up... Mata, though, curls the ball harmlessly over Manuel Neuer's crossbar. A waste.

31 min Robben continues to cause Chelsea problems. On this occasion the Dutch international sees his bouncing effort held by Cech in the Chelsea goal.

30 min First opportunity for Bertrand to show us what he can do 30 yards from goal. However, the 22-year-old runs straight into Phillip Lahm.

27 min Free-kick to Bayern 25 yards from goal after a foul by David Luiz on Muller. Robben stands over the ball...but hits the four-man Chelsea wall.

25 min Potential chance for Chelsea. Drogba draws a foul from Jerome Boateng midway inside the Bayern half. However, Juan Mata and Frank Lampard play it short and possession is soon squandered.

24 min Further replays of Robben's chance moments ago show that Cech pushed the ball onto the angle between post and bar. Meanwhile, Bayern have another corner...which Cech claims cleanly.

23 min This may be tempting fate, but it seems as though it is only a matter of time before Bayern break the deadlock. The Germans force yet another corner, which is cleared by Didier Drogba.

21 min Another chance for Bayern. Cech denies his former teammate Robben, who drilled a low effort goalwards. Munich are getting closer and closer.

19 min Big chance for Bayern and Gomez, who opts to turn instead of shoot eight yards from goal and the opportunity passes. If the German international had pulled the trigger, Chelsea would probably be 1-0 down.

18 min Muller forces a corner for Bayern...which sees Robben's shot deflected for another corner....Petr Cech comes to claim the cross.

16 min More probing from Bayern on the edge of the area but the Chelsea rearguard holds firm again. How long can the Blues keep this resistance going?

13 min First sight of goal for the prolific Mario Gomez. Franck Ribery crosses for the striker, whose header goes over the top. Worryingly for Chelsea, centre-back David Luiz looked half asleep there as Gomez got a march on him!

12 min Bayern are certainly the sharper of the two sides. When Chelsea manage to claim possession, they are harried by an opponent almost instantly.

10 min Ten minutes in and so far good for Roberto Di Matteo and Chelsea, who have so far kept Bayern at bay. Note: SO FAR!

8 min More pressure from Chelsea as Mata's cross is cleared, while up the other end Robben cuts inside Ashley Cole before lashing an effort wildly over the bar.

6 min First attack for Chelsea but Didier Drogba's cross evades Ryan Bertrand at the back post.

5 min Another effort for Bayern as Kroos drags an effort wide of goal. Chelsea yet to get a foothold in the game.

4 min Bayern controlling large amounts of the possession and create the first chance. However, Schweinsteiger's shot from distance is blocked by Gary Cahill.

2 min First booking already! Bastian Schweinsteiger has his name taken after committing a deliberate handball.

1 min Ashley Cole commits the first foul, going in late on Toni Kroos. Arjen Robben stands over the free-kick, which comes to nothing.

7:45pm Anthem done! Chelsea get us underway. Game on!

7:42pm Players are now on the pitch and awaiting the famous Champions League theme tune. Hairs standing up on the back of the neck time!

7:40pm The players are now in the tunnel. Just five minutes to go!!

7:35pm For those that missed them earlier, here are the teams:

Bayern: Neuer; Boateng, Tymoshchuk, Lahm, Contento; Ribery, Robben, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Muller; Gomez

Chelsea: Cech; Bosingwa, Cahill, Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Lampard; Kalou, Mata, Bertrand; Drogba

7:33pm Meanwhile, the Italian coach claims that he is not surprised by Bayern's starting lineup: "Bayern have picked the side we expected. We are prepared and ready."

7:28pm Di Matteo talking to Sky Sports News about his selection of Bertrand: "Malouda picked up a little injury. We trained with Ryan there. He has a good understanding with Ashley Cole."

7:25pm More from Twitter - BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty: "Suspended Raul Meireles & John Terry suited and booted on the touchline watching Chelsea warm up. They will feel like lonely men tonight."

7:20pm British tennis player Laura Robson on Twitter: "Come on Chelseaaaaaa!!!"

7:18pm Earlier today West Ham United were promoted back to the Premier League courtesy of a 2-1 win over Blackpool at Wembley. Will Chelsea make it a good day all round for London clubs? Less than 30 minutes to go!

7:13pm More from Twitter - Daily Telegraph journalist Henry Winter: "Cheers for Lampard, Cole, Bertrand and rest of #cfc team as they run out. Brief burst of boos from the Bayern end."

7:12pm Tottenham defender Benoit Assou Ekotto on Twitter: "Tonight all the Spurs fans are allowed to switch a Spurs shirt to a Bayern shirt only during 90 minutes! Come on Munich - yes you can."

7:09pm Sky Sports News are currently screening an interview with Frank Lampard. How much of an affect will the England international have on tonight's proceedings?

7:03pm More on Bertrand. The 22-year-old will become the first ever player to make his debut in the final of the competition since it was revamped into the Champions League.

7:00pm Meanwhile, Chelsea have reached one final back in 2008. On that occasion they lost to Premier League rivals Man United on penalties in Moscow.

6:57pm Taking a closer look at Bayern, they have won the competition four times in their history. Their last success came in 2001, when a certain Owen Hargreaves was part of the squad that defeated Valencia on penalties.

6:52pm Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles on Twitter: "It's very frustrating to be suspended and not playing the final, but I have full confidence in my teammates and believe they'll make it tonight!"

6:51pm Just seen footage of the Champions League trophy. Question for Chelsea fans - should Terry be allowed to lift it if you are victorious?

6:49pm What do we make of those lineups then? Bertrand too much of a risk? Can Drogba get at Tymoshchuk?

6:47pm Looking at the Bayern team, their front three of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez have scored 77 goals in all competitions this season. Gulp!

6:45pm One hour to go! How are the nerves Chelsea and Bayern fans?!

6:44pm Full lineups can be found here.

6:37pm BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Ryan Bertrand makes his Champions League debut for Chelsea!

6:34pm Team news is expected in 20 minutes. Who will be in and who will have to settle for a place on the bench?

6:31pm Gary Cahill and David Luiz are both expected to start this evening, despite only recently returning from injury. How much of a chance are Chelsea taking by starting both? Should only one be starting?

6:25pm The Bayern squad have also arrived for what is essentially a home fixture for them.

6:24pm Reports last night claimed that young Ryan Bertrand was going to make his Champions League debut this evening on the left win for Chelsea. Is that too much of a risk from Di Matteo?

6:20pm How are Tottenham Hotspur fans feeling tonight? A win for Chelsea will see the Blues claim your spot in the Champions League next season. Are you adopted Germans this evening?!

6:14pm Here's a stat for you. The last two teams to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League (Manchester United and Inter Milan) have gone on to win the trophy. Lucky omen for the Blues perhaps?

6:12pm More pictures from Sky Sports News shows the suspended Terry talking to Fabio Capello on the side of the pitch. Any guesses what they are discussing?!

6:10pm So, that is SEVEN players that miss out through suspension. Who will each side miss the most? Sports Mole are plumping for Ramires. The Brazilian showed his importance during the semi-final against Barcelona.

6:08pm Bayern are not without suspensions of their own. Defenders Holger Badstuber and David Alaba are made to sit this one out, as has holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

6:06pm Right, let's clear up who cannot play this evening. For Chelsea, captain John Terry is suspended for the red card that he received against Barcelona in the semi-final. Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Raul Meireles are also absent, having exceeded their yellow card limit during the competition.

6:03pm Sky Sports News treat us to footage of the Chelsea bus approaching the stadium. The squad are now at the Allianz Arena and around one hour and 40 minutes away from kick-off. How are the nerves?!
