Peter Whittingham: 'Cardiff City better equipped for life in the Premier League'

Peter Whittingham claims that Cardiff City are now better equipped for life in the Premier League than they were three seasons ago.

Peter Whittingham has claimed that Cardiff City are now better equipped for life in the Premier League than three seasons ago.

Controversy surrounded the Bluebirds throughout the 2013-14 Premier League campaign, with relegation following the controversial kit colour change and sacking of popular manager Malky Mackay in what was the club's first stint in the top division for 51 years.

Owner Vincent Tan has since reversed the club's change of colours back to blue, and while Cardiff City Stadium attendances have hit record lows in the Championship this season, veteran midfielder Whittingham believes that his side are now prepared for life in the top flight.

"Anyone would love another crack at the Premier League. What a league it is," the 31-year-old told reporters.

"I experienced it with Cardiff once, it wasn't the greatest experience, but certain games were unbelievable. Some of it you will remember forever.

"I feel if we can get back up we are more ready for it than we were before. We have experienced it. We are better equipped, but we need to get there."

Whittingham has scored 84 goals and provided 82 assists in 395 games for Cardiff since joining from Aston Villa in January 2007.
