New Burnley boss Sean Dyche gets off to a winning start courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Wolves.

New Burnley manager Sean Dyche has got off to a winning start with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

The hosts took the lead after 17 minutes, when Martin Paterson got on the end of a fine pass from Ben Mee before coolly slotting the ball home.

Dean Marney could have doubled this lead five minutes before the break when he was one on one with Carl Ikeme, but the Wolves keeper was equal to the effort.

The visitors almost punished their opponents for this miss immediately, but Bakary Sako's effort flew just wide with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake lurking.

Burnley made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half when Charlie Austin headed in Ross Wallace's corner for his 19th goal of the season.

Sako almost hauled his side back into the match with a speculative long-range strike that came back off the post.

Ebanks-Blake squandered a golden chance to make it 2-1 with a little under 20 minutes remaining when he had a headed chance from six yards out, but his effort was weak and straight at the keeper as Burnley held out to win.
