Danny Ings "extremely proud" of Burnley fight

Danny Ings expresses his pride in his Burnley teammates after their relegation was confirmed despite their 1-0 win over Hull City.

Danny Ings has declared himself "extremely proud" of his Burnley teammates after their relegation was confirmed on Saturday.

The Clarets beat Hull City 1-0 at the KC Stadium, but results elsewhere this afternoon condemned them to Championship football next season.

Ings, Burnley's goalscorer against the Tigers, praised the squad after the win and their commitment throughout the season.

"The lads were unbelievable today," the striker told Sky Sports News. "The desire and fight was phenomenal, and it was there from start to finish. I thought we played some great stuff, but as you say it's too little too late.

"I can't fault my teammates but sometimes it's just one of things. Obviously the goals dried up towards the end, but the lads were fighting until the end, so I'm extremely proud of the lads today."

Ings, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, also admitted that he will consider his future in the summer.

He added: "There's two games left and we're going to play them with pride and I'll sit down in the summer and we'll see where we go from there."

Sean Dyche's side host Stoke City next week in the penultimate game of their campaign.
