Burnley manager Sean Dyche has praised his side's mentality despite having their relegation from the Premier League confirmed this afternoon.
Victory away to Hull City, thanks to a Danny Ings goal, was not enough to save Burnley from the drop as other results conspired against them.
However, Dyche told Sky Sports News after the game that he was proud of his team's efforts throughout the season.
"There's been a real mental resilience there despite people writing us off all season," he said. "Now we have to think about the club as a whole going forward, the staff, the players and the fans.
"We've tried to build something. We're a break from the norm and made some great signings that will protect the future of the club. Our fans have been amazing, stood with the players, and been a great advert for true, great support."
Burnley's relegation was confirmed after Newcastle drew and Sunderland won this afternoon, leaving both North East clubs seven points clear of the Clarets with two games to go.
