Bolton Wanderers have announced the signing of veteran midfielder Gary O'Neil on a short-term deal until January, subject to clearance.
The 35-year-old began his professional career in 2000 with Portsmouth and has made upwards of 450 appearances for numerous clubs including Middlesbrough and West Ham United.
O'Neil, who has spent all of pre-season with Bolton, last played for Bristol City for two years before being released at the end of last season.
"We feel that Gary is a good influence around the training ground and the younger players," Trotters boss Phil Parkinson told the official club website.
"He is a player of high calibre and during this busy period coming up, we'll need as many bodies as we can and when you get a good character like Gary around the building, we felt that it was important that we kept him at the club."
Bolton, who secured Championship survival on the final day of the 2017-18 season, begin their campaign with a trip to relegated West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
