Preview: Bolton Wanderers vs. Blackburn Rovers

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Bolton and Blackburn at the Reebok Stadium.

Blackburn Rovers will look to continue their late push for the playoffs when they travel to the Reebok Stadium to take on Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Rovers have strung together a five-match unbeaten streak to lift themselves up to ninth in the Championship table, where they now sit just four points behind sixth-placed Reading with a game in hand.

Their last outing saw them pick up a valuable 1-0 away win against the Royals, giving their hopes of a top-six finish a major boost.

Gary Bowyer's side did not concede a single goal during the month of February, and they will look to carry that defensive solidity into March as they aim to move as high as seventh with a win.

They have also improved their away record recently, winning three, drawing three and losing just one of their last seven Championship outings on the road.

Striker Jordan Rhodes has now gone eight games without finding the back of the net, but he is expected to lead the line once again for Blackburn, who only have Ben Marshall as an injury doubt.

Bolton, meanwhile, picked up a very important 2-0 win over Watford in their last outing to keep a bit of breathing space between them and the relegation zone.

All three of the teams currently in the drop zone picked up victories, meaning that Bolton remain just six points from safety having played three games more than 22nd-placed Charlton Athletic.

However, their goal difference is the best in the bottom eight of the table and Dougie Freedman will be reassured by the fact that both Doncaster and Millwall separate them from the relegation zone.

Their victory over Watford was a timely one as it ended an eight-match winless streak for the Trotters, who will now be looking for consecutive wins for the first time since November.

However, only three teams have picked up fewer points at home than Bolton this season, with Freedman's side registering a league-high nine draws in front of their own fans.

They could have Andre Moritz back in the squad following injury, but Stuart Holden, Joe Riley and Marc Tierney are all long-term absentees.
