Dougie Freedman: 'First Bolton Wanderers win an inch away'

Bolton manager Dougie Freedman is confident that his side's first Championship win of the season is just around the corner after a 0-0 draw with Blackpool made it 10 games without victory.

Manager Dougie Freedman has insisted that Bolton Wanderers' first win of the season is imminent after their run without victory was stretched to 10 games on Tuesday night.

The Trotters were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Blackpool at Bloomfield Road - their fifth draw of a campaign in which they are one of just two Championship sides yet to pick up maximum points.

However, Freedman believes that it is only small margins that are preventing the Reebok Stadium outfit from picking up positive results, which he is adamant will come in the near future.

"I think it's very close," he told reporters. "We're an inch away. If you know anything about football and have seen us the last three or four games you'll have seen we're very close.

"We're a good team; we've not got off to a good start but we won't lie down. I refuse to be in this position as the manager of this great club.

"We're playing against a team, Blackpool, who are riding high, full of confidence and at home very hard to beat. They're playing against my team who are not at their most confident but they showed great desire and I thought we were the better team."

Bolton, who are currently second from bottom in the league table, travel to Birmingham City in the Championship on Saturday.
