Xherdan Shaqiri netted inside five minutes before he turned provider, setting up Bastian Schweinsteiger to head in from a corner on 20 minutes.

Pizarro got his first on the half-hour mark and he then set up Arjen Robben four minutes later for Bayern's fourth of the night.

There was still time for Pizarro to fire in his second before the break as the Bavarians went in 5-0 to the good.

The scoring did not stop in the second half and two more goals went in within 10 minutes of the restart.

First Pizarro bagged his hat-trick from Robben's cutback before setting up the Dutchman for 7-0 just a minute later.

It took 12 minutes for the next goal to go in and it was Pizarro once more, this time substitute Thomas Muller providing the assist.

Jeffrey Bruma scored for the hapless Hamburg on 75 minutes but Bayern quickly restored their eight-goal advantage through another substitute Franck Ribery.

Rafael van der Vaart put a corner right on the head of Heiko Westermann with five minutes to go as Hamburg got another consolation goal.
