The Germany international midfielder has been struggling with an ankle injury of late but has recovered enough to be named among the substitutes.

Captain Philipp Lahm will once again play in the holding midfielder's role at the Allianz Arena, while Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic all start for the hosts.

Meanwhile, CSKA are without Alan Dzagoev, while Zoran Tosic has regained his fitness only for the substitutes' bench. Steven Zuber, Keisuke Honda and Vitinho will support lone striker Ahmed Musa from attacking midfield.
