Team News: Sebastian Boenisch returns for Bayer Leverkusen

Sebastian Boenisch is restored to Bayer Leverkusen's starting XI, which sees Emre Can in a more familiar attacking midfield role.

Bayer Leverkusen's push to keep up with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga has been handed a boost with the return of left-back Sebastian Boenisch to the starting XI for the trip to Freiburg.

His inclusion means that coach Sami Hyypia can move Emre Can back to a more familiar position on the left of a three-pronged attack behind striker Stefan Kiessling.

For the hosts, Admir Mehmedi is selected as the lone forward, but he will have Vladimir Darida in support as an attacking number 10.

Freiburg: Baumann; Mujdza, Krmas, Hohn, Sorg; Ginter, Fernandes; Schmid, Darida, Pilar; Mehmedi

Leverkusen: Leno; Donati, Reinartz, Toprak, Boenisch; Rolfes, Bender, Castro; Son, Kiessling, Can
