Agent: 'Marc-Andre ter Stegen could sign new deal'

The agent of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen hints that the German international will sign a contract extension at Camp Nou.

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen "can see himself" signing a new long-term contract at Camp Nou, according to the German international's agent Gerd vom Bruch.

Ter Stegen was linked with a move away from Barcelona in the summer after being forced to play second fiddle to Claudio Bravo last season, but Bravo has since moved on to Manchester City, which has seen Ter Stegen promoted to the club's number one.

Vom Bruch has claimed that "some big clubs" wanted to sign the 24-year-old in the summer, but after starting the new season in the first team, the stopper could now sign an extension to his contract.

"He wanted to play more and there was interest in him from some big clubs," Vom Bruch told Diari Ara. "Barca said that there was no way they would let him go and we accepted that.

"Now Marc's in the position which he himself had set as his target, starting in the league and in Europe. [Josep Maria Bartomeu's comments] were a sign of appreciation and he can see himself renewing his contract with Barca."

Ter Stegen is currently contracted to Barcelona until the summer of 2019.
