Barcelona maintain perfect start

Goals from Daniel Alves, Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez prove enough for Barcelona to beat Sevilla 3-2 at home in La Liga.

Barcelona have maintained their 100% start to the La Liga season with a narrow 3-2 victory over Sevilla at home.

The defending champions started dominating the Andalucian club right from the first minute, with Cristian Tello, Lionel Messi and Neymar all asking questions of the visitors' defence.

The hosts' pressure eventually paid off in the 36th minute when Daniel Alves headed home Adriano's cross at the far post from close range.

However, Sevilla could have restored parity just three minutes later had Victor Valdes not intercepted Victor Machin's pass for Kevin Gameiro.

The visitors had another good chance to make it 1-1 just before the hour mark when Gameiro found Machin inside the box only for Gerard Pique to block the latter's effort on goal.

Barca thought that they had made sure of the points 15 minutes from time with their second goal of the evening through Messi, who turned home Neymar's pass with ease.

However, Sevilla halved the deficit in the 80th minute when Ivan Rakitic burst into the home side's penalty box and slammed home, and then in the final minute of normal time Coke Andujar clipped a low effort into the net to make it 2-2.

There was yet more drama to come at Camp Nou, though, as Alexis Sanchez found the target in the fourth minute of injury time after some good work from Messi.
