Spain were forced to call an abrupt end to their training session on Monday due to the fans hurling abuse at Gerard Pique over his pro-independence stance for Catalonia.
The defender, who has previously received criticism from supporters of the national team for his political views, spoke out in support of the voters after violent clashes marred Sunday's referendum.
Today, according to Reuters, while the Barcelona star headed onto the pitch to train with his fellow countrymen, fans threw cups and unfurled banners reading 'Pique Out'.
The abuse, which was described by the news outlet as "particularly severe", forced the management team to call off the training session after just 23 minutes.
Pique, who has 91 caps to his name, has publicly stated that he will retire from international duty if his views on Catalan independence causes an issue for the Spanish Football Federation.
The nation are preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Israel.
