Barcelona striker Luis Suarez says that winning matches is the most important thing for the Spanish champions.

Luis Suarez has revealed that he was desperate to "help the team" with goals, but has insisted that winning matches is the most important thing for Barcelona.

Suarez failed to register in Barcelona's first two La Liga matches of the 2018-19 campaign, but netted a brace in Sunday's 8-2 win over Huesca at Camp Nou.

The Spanish champions have now collected maximum points from their three matches this term, and Suarez has said that "being top is always important".

"I wanted to help the team and what's most important is that we won, just like other games," Suarez told Marca.

"I think that we're getting there in terms of tempo and that's the main thing. We started off a bit sleepily and obviously they scored, but that gave us a push to react and play. Being top is always important, but we've only just begun."

Barcelona will return to La Liga action with a trip to Real Sociedad on September 15.
