Luis Enrique: 'Lionel Messi does not receive special treatment'

Luis Enrique reveals that Messi is given no special treatment behind the scenes at Barcelona, despite the team accommodating him on the pitch.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has revealed that talisman Lionel Messi does not receive any special treatment behind the scenes at the club.

The Spaniard admitted to reporters that the team do what they can to assist Messi's movement on the pitch, but his freedom doesn't extend to the dressing room.

The 44-year-old was asked whether Messi is given total freedom by reporters, to which he responded: "Yes, but always on the pitch. It does not extend to the dressing room. He has such ability that he has complete freedom in phases of play.

"We adapt to him and he adapts to us so that he is involved as much as possible in the game.

The Argentine forward reached 400 senior goals in his career earlier this season, with the 27-year-old scoring 359 of those for Barcelona.
