Luis Enrique content with Barcelona's narrow victory over Manchester City

Luis Enrique believes that Barcelona's victory against Manchester City was "thoroughly deserved", as they take a 2-1 lead into the second leg of the last-16 tie.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has declared himself happy with his side's one-goal advantage going into the second leg of their last-16 clash against Manchester City

It could have been even better for the Catalan giants after Luis Suarez had put them two goals to the good inside the opening 30 minutes, while Lionel Messi saw his late penalty kept out by Joe Hart.

City managed to pull a goal back through Sergio Aguero, however, to ensure that the contest still remains tight at 2-1 ahead of the reverse tie, albeit with the Citizens needing to score at least twice at Camp Nou in three weeks' time to progress.

Speaking to reporters following the game, Enrique said: "I would have settled for this result It's an away win, and a thoroughly deserved one. We had a splendid first half and created a host of chances for ourselves.

"We always had a man free, we combined, we broke clearly through on several occasions and we also defended really well. It wasn't our best first half of the season. We have played some great first halves in other matches too."

Barca return to action at the weekend when they take on Granada in La Liga.
