Andres Iniesta: 'Barcelona have an obligation to win trophies'

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta admits that his side are expected to beat Sevilla in this weekend's Copa del Rey final.

Andres Iniesta has admitted that the pressure is on Barcelona in Sunday's Copa del Rey meeting with Sevilla as the "obligation to win is permanent".

The Catalan club are on track for a domestic double in Spain, having edged out rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to win the La Liga title last weekend.

There will be no treble for a second season in succession for Barca, though, as they were sent packing in the Champions League by Atleti and are therefore left fighting on just one more front this term.

Ahead of the clash with Europa League champions Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon, Iniesta is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "This team always has that obligation in a final.

"We fight for all the titles each season, sometimes we win and other times we're further away, but the obligation to win is permanent. It is like that in each game, so imagine what it's like in a final."

Barcelona fans are expected to hold a political protest over the independence of Catalonia by waving "estelada" flags on Sunday after successfully appealing against the decision to ban them.

"I just want the people to go and have a good time, [winning] the cup could make everyone happy, regardless of what you think of a flag," Iniesta added.

"The club have given their opinion, I will keep mine to myself because what I say could be misinterpreted. The only thing that interests me is that when the game finishes, Barcelona are champions."

No team has won the Copa del Rey more times than Barcelona, who are looking to lift the cup for a 28th time in Madrid.
