AZ off to a storming start in Eredivisie with Heracles win

Marco van Basten's AZ beat Hercules 3-0 to get their league campaign off to the best possible start.

AZ have kicked off their Eredivisie campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Heracles at the Polman Stadion this evening.

Steven Berghuis fired Marco van Basten's side into the lead just short of the hour mark when his shot found its way past Dennis Telgenkamp.

Guus Hupperts added the second shortly after with a strike into the top corner to double AZ's advantage, while Muamer Tankovic found the target from a rebound to seal the victory in style.

Substitute Mikhail Rosheuvel almost added a fourth for the visitors with four minutes remaining, but Telgenkamp kept the effort out to ensure that the match finished 3-0.
