Gabi suffers ankle injury

Atletico Madrid reveal that Spanish midfielder Gabi suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's 4-0 win over Sevilla.

Atletico Madrid skipper Gabi suffered an ankle injury in his side's 4-0 win over Sevilla on Saturday.

The Spaniard departed at the interval of the La Liga affair, but it initially looked to be a tactical change with no injury reported from the club.

However, Atletico have now revealed that the midfielder did suffer a heavy blow to his ankle and will therefore undergo tests later this evening to determine the extent of the problem.

The experienced midfielder is seen as a doubt for Atletico's Champions League Group A clash against the Italian champions Juventus on Wednesday evening.
