Paul Lambert: 'No bids made for Ron Vlaar'

Paul Lambert reveals that he 'fully expects' Ron Vlaar to be an Aston Villa player after the transfer window closes, stressing that no bids have been made for the defender.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has revealed that there has yet to have been a bid made for defender Ron Vlaar this summer.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from Villa Park following an impressive showing at the World Cup with the Netherlands last month.

However, despite the rumoured interest from teams such as Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, Lambert says that no formal approach for the player has yet been made.

"At the moment there has been nothing and I fully expect him to be here," the former Norwich City boss told Sky Sports News. "The only thing that gave me some concern was people talking about other people's players, I thought that was wrong.

"I have had a little chat with him and everything is fine. We move on and everything will sort itself out. You are playing a dangerous game if you mention other people's players. You have to have respect for that."

Villa played out a goalless draw against Parma earlier today in their final pre-season friendly before the new Premier League season.
