Molde chairman Oystein Neerland criticises manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for holding talks with Aston Villa.

Molde chairman Oystein Neerland has expressed his anger at manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for holding talks with Aston Villa.

The former Manchester United striker flew to England on Friday to have an "informal talk" with owner Randy Lerner on becoming the team's new boss following Alex McLeish's sacking on Monday.

However, Neerland has claimed that the Norwegian club's trust has been "put to the test".

"We were made aware of the interest and the conversations, but it was still a disappointment that he chose to travel to England on Friday to speak with Aston Villa," he told Romsdals Budstikke.

"It seems we do not know anything about it. The trust is put to the test, and we have to get it back again before we work on. We expect that there will be a constructive conversation with Ole Gunnar on Saturday."

Villa have said that a number of other candidates are also in the frame to take the job.
