Ole Gunnar Solskjaer jets home to Norway following four hours of discussions with Aston Villa over becoming the club's new manager.

Molde coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly flown back to Norway after speaking to Aston Villa today regarding the vacant managerial spot.

The Norwegian club confirmed earlier today that the former Manchester United striker was having talks with Villa owner Randy Lerner over becoming Alex McLeish's replacement.

The 39-year-old touched down in the Midlands today with the club's American owner in Lerner's private jet to discuss a potential deal, which has lowered Roberto Martinez and Paul Lambert's chances of snatching the position.

It is understood that Solskjaer has flown back home following discussions but it is unclear whether a deal was struck at Villa Park, according to Sky Sports News.

McLeish was sacked by the Premier League outfit on Monday after just 11 months in charge.
