Paul Lambert looking to copy Sam Allardyce turnaround

Paul Lambert looks to copy Sam Allardyce's turnaround at West Ham United by getting Aston Villa back to winning ways.

Paul Lambert has said that he can follow Sam Allardyce's lead at West Ham United by turning around Aston Villa's fortunes following a poor run of form.

The Midlands club travel to Upton Park on Saturday on the back of six consecutive defeats, with the most recent being a 2-1 loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Lambert has insisted that Villa's situation is no different to the Hammers' difficult period last season, which saw Allardyce under pressure before leading the East End club into the top five so far this term.

The Scot is quoted by ESPN as saying: "That's what you do. I've got some really good players so I don't have any fears about that whatsoever. Sam has been through it and he has been there and bought the T-shirt.

"He has been over the course before and has a really good side. Even when it was all happening, I remember from the outside looking in it was not nice seeing that from any crowd doing that to a manager. But he came through it and that's what you do, you come through it.

"Some others might like [opposition managers getting abuse] but me personally, I don't like seeing it because I know how hard the job is. When results go for you then great, but if not then you know what's coming."

Villa are currently 16th in the Premier League, having scored five goals in their 10 games so far.
