Paul Lambert: 'Ron Vlaar, Aly Cissokho are doubts'

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert admits that defenders Ron Vlaar and Aly Cissokho could miss his side's Capital One Cup clash with Leyton Orient on Wednesday.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has revealed that defenders Aly Cissokho and Ron Vlaar are doubts for his side's Capital One Cup clash with Leyton Orient on Wednesday.

The duo sustained the injuries in Villa's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday, and Lambert feels that he would rather hold them out of the midweek game to keep them fit for the Premier League.

Lambert told the club's official website: "Aly is doing okay but whether this one is a bit early for him I'm not sure. I will have a look at it. If he's not fit for this one, I'm pretty sure Aly will be okay for Sunday.

"Ron hurt himself on Saturday as well - he hurt his knee a little bit. It's not too major. But, again, if this one is too early for him I'm pretty sure he'll be okay for Sunday."

Lambert's side face Hull City in the Premier League on Sunday.
