Bernardo Silva leaves Benfica for Monaco on season-long loan

Benfica playmaker Bernardo Silva becomes Monaco's second loan signing in as many days following the arrival of Maarten Stekelenburg, joining for the 2014-2015 season.

Benfica playmaker Bernardo Silva has joined Moncao on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old Portugal youth international has moved to the French principality after making just one start for Benfica's first team last season.

"I'm very happy to sign here at AS Monaco," Silva told the club's official website.

"It's a big club, and I know its history. I can't wait to start training with my new teammates, and I'll work hard to help the team. I really hope we can win some trophies this season."

Silva has become Monaco's second loan signing in as many days, after Maarten Stekelenburg arrived from Fulham yesterday.
