Monaco captain Eric Abidal sets sights on Champions League

Monaco captain Eric Abidal insists that his side have proven that they are capable of competing with Paris Saint-Germain.

Monaco captain Eric Abidal has declared that they are aiming to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Claudio Ranieri's side sit five points behind Paris Saint-Germain after drawing with the league leaders on Sunday, but the left-back believes that his side are capable of competing with the title holders.

"The objective is to qualify for the Champions League. We proved a lot of things since the beginning of the season. We have shown we can compete with PSG," he told L'Equipe.

"We must remember the good things and rectify the bad, but the important thing for us was not to get beaten by Paris. The gap remains five points and everything is possible. We must use this draw to advance."

PSG are five points ahead of second-placed Monaco in the table.
