Victor Wanyama: 'Arsenal want to sign me'

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama has stated that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to take him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 25-year-old's teammate Morgan Schneiderlin has long been linked with a switch to the Gunners, while Wenger is reportedly keen to add competition to his midfield.

Wanyama says that Arsenal are interested in him, but has reiterated that he is fully focused on Southampton for the time being.

"Wenger has been talking about me," Wanyama told The Sun. "He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.

"Arsenal are a great club and I'd love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.

"But we've had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe. Then we'll see where I end up in the summer."

Wanyama joined Southampton from Celtic in 2013.
