Report: Arsenal line up £20m William Carvalho bid

A report suggests that Arsenal are targeting a January swoop for £20m-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

Arsenal are reportedly lining up a £20m move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho when then transfer window reopens in January.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is willing to spend money next month if the right player is available, and has apparently pinpointed the 22-year-old as his primary target.

The Gunners saw a £15m bid for the Portugal international rebuffed by Sporting in the summer, but the Portuguese club are willing to do business and a £20m deal could yet be agreed, claims the Daily Mail.

Carvalho has made 19 appearances for Sporting in all competitions this season.
