Lionel Messi would prefer Arsenal if he opts for Premier League move?

Lionel Messi would reportedly prefer a move to Arsenal if he were to leave Barcelona for a Premier League club in the future.

Lionel Messi would reportedly prefer to sign for Arsenal if he eventually decides to leave Barcelona and join a Premier League club.

The 28-year-old, who has been officially named the world's best footballer four times in his career, has been linked with a shock switch to England in the past.

The Argentine is said to be earning over £14m a year at the Camp Nou and has a release clause worth a staggering £175m.

According to the Daily Star, should Messi opt to join a Premier League club, Arsenal would be his preferred choice, but he would want a deal worth £600,000 per week.

The report adds that Messi is considering his future due to the current tax evasion case that he is embroiled in.

The footballer and his father Jorge Messi are facing trial after being accused of avoiding paying £1.3m to the Spanish tax authorities.

The prolific player joined Barcelona's academy in 2001.
