Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 'still hopeful of Barcelona move'

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still wants to join Barcelona this summer, according to a report.

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly still hopeful of joining Barcelona during this summer's transfer window.

The 31-year-old has been in impressive form for the Gunners during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 25 times in 42 appearances in all competitions, including 20 in 35 Premier League outings.

Aubameyang's contract at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire next summer, though, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months.

According to Sport, the Gabon international is still hopeful of completing a summer move to Barca, despite suggestions that he is now favouring signing a new contract with Mikel Arteta's side.

The report claims that Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez remains the Spanish club's leading target in the final third of the field, but Aubameyang is also being considered by Quique Setien's side.

The former Borussia Dortmund attacker sent Arsenal into the final of the FA Cup courtesy of a brace against Manchester City in the semi-finals of the competition last weekend.
