Arsenal plan a January move for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly planning a January move for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.

The 24-year-old was strongly linked with a switch away from his French club over the summer, but the transfer window closed with the Portuguese still at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Sanches has struggled with injuries during the 2021-22 campaign but has still made nine appearances for his Ligue 1 outfit in all competitions.

The Portugal international recently opened the door to a January exit and mentioned Arsenal as potential suitors when questioned on his next move.

According to Calciomercato, the Gunners are 'looking for funds' to move for the midfielder during the January transfer window, and Mikel Arteta's side are determined to beat AC Milan to his signature.

The report claims that Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Bernd Leno could be sold at the start of next year to raise transfer funds.

Sanches previously played in the Premier League during the 2017-18 campaign, representing Swansea City on loan from Bayern Munich.
