Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
The 17-year-old England youth international, who has made 10 Premier League appearances this season, is also understood to have attracted the attention of Chelsea.
However, Arsene Wenger has done business with Southampton in the past, taking Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from St Mary's.
According to the Daily Mail, Wenger will attempt to use the relationships that he has built with the Saints hierarchy to land Shaw for a fee in the region of £5m.
Wenger's Gunners will come face to face with Shaw on New Year's Day when Arsenal visit the Saints for their first fixture of 2013.
