Alex Iwobi set for new deal, pay rise

Arsenal are reportedly set to offer young winger Alex Iwobi a new contract just six months after he signed his current deal.

Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi is reportedly set to sign a new contract with the Gunners just six months after agreeing terms on an improved deal.

The 20-year-old Nigerian, who has been with the side since the age of eight, has emerged as a key component of manager Arsene Wenger's first-team plans this season.

Iwobi only signed a new, £25,000-a-week deal in April but according to the Daily Mail, Wenger will "double his wage... if his rapid rise continues".

Wenger reportedly views Iwobi, who broke into the first team last year, as "one of the key members of his first-choice starting XI".

Arsenal are also thought to be in talks with Hector Bellerin over an increase on his current £30,000-a-week salary amid reported interest from Spanish champions Barcelona.
