Jack Wilshere could be out for further two weeks with ankle injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirms that Jack Wilshere is likely to be out of action for a further fortnight with an ankle injury.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that midfielder Jack Wilshere is likely to be out of action for a further two weeks.

It had been suggested that the 21-year-old would make his return to the first team against Reading on Saturday following his withdrawal from England's World Cup qualifiers due to an ankle injury.

Despite reports that the midfielder had begun full training this week, Wenger has claimed that Wilshere will be unable to feature at the Emirates this weekend.

"Regarding Jack? I think two weeks on Sunday," BBC Sport quotes Wenger as saying. "Not the next game, but the game after."

The Frenchman has also revealed that Theo Walcott will remain on the sidelines with a groin injury, while a late call will be made on Kieran Gibbs due to illness.

Meanwhile, Reading travel to North London with new manager Nigel Adkins for the first time.
