Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Carl Jenkinson's international debut for England on Wednesday night was fully deserved.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that defender Carl Jenkinson's England debut against Sweden on Wednesday night will provide him with a 'confidence boost'.

The 20-year-old came on as a second-half substitute in England's 4-2 defeat and Wenger believes that his appearance is a reward for the full-back's impressive performances this season.

Wenger told Arsenal Player: "I'm massively pleased for Carl because he had a good start to the season and was rewarded last night.

"That will hopefully boost his confidence as well."

Jenkinson has made 12 appearances for Arsenal this season.
