AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that he made "the perfect choice" when he snubbed Arsenal in favour of a move to Ajax in 2001.
The Sweden international, who last month revealed that he was offered a trial with Arsenal before making the switch to Ajax, insists that manager Arsene Wenger never made him a "serious" offer to join the club.
"Arsene gave me the No 9 shirt with Ibrahimovic on it," he told The Sun. "I was so pleased I even posed for a picture wearing it.
"It was a fantastic moment for me. I waited for him to convince me that I should join Arsenal. But he didn't. He never made me a serious offer.
"I knew it wasn't just Arsenal who wanted me. So I said 'No' and, in the end, I signed for Ajax instead. It was the perfect choice."
Ibrahimovic has since gone on to star for Juventus, Internazionale and Barcelona.
