Tom Lineham hat-trick lifts Hull FC into Super League playoffs

Tom Lineham crosses over three times as Hull FC overcome a 12-0 deficit against Widnes Vikings to claim victory at the Select Security Stadium.

Hull FC have staged an impressive comeback to beat Widnes Vikings 25-12 at the Select Security Stadium this evening.

The Black and Whites were 12-0 down inside the opening 11 minutes as Jack Owens and Matt Whitley both found the whitewash early on.

Tom Lineham finally got Hull off the mark soon after when capitalising on a fine break by Gareth Ellis, and Leon Pryce was on hand to level up the try count with 31 minutes on the clock.

The visitors had a narrow lead to take into the interval thanks to a second Lineham try on the brink of half time, which came about after Marc Sneyd delicately chipped the ball over.

A one-sided second period followed, as Sneyd got his own name on the scoresheet in superb individual fashion, before Lineham rounded off his hat-trick to put Hull well in command.

Sneyd added the final points of the game with his fourth drop-goal of the season 17 minutes from time, ensuring that Lee Radford's men move into the Super League playoffs.

Widnes, on the other hand, are down in ninth place following their first defeat in four league outings.
