South Sydney Rabbitohs crush St Helens at Langtree Park to win title

The South Sydney Rabbitohs produce a clinical display to cruise past St Helens and win the World Club Challenge with a 39-0 victory at Langtree Park.

Some standout offensive work from the South Sydney Rabbitohs ensured that they claimed a resounding 39-0 victory over St Helens to win the World Club Challenge at Langtree Park this evening.

Glenn Stewart put Sydney into the lead early on when he caught hold of an enterprising kick from Adam Reynolds to get round the back of Jordan Turner and complete the try.

Dylan Walker was next to register for the Rabbitohs, as Reynolds made light work of Turner on the run to find his teammate with an efficient pass, moving the scores to 12-0.

A third try came just a few minutes later, this time as Greg Inglis capped off some good work from the Souths who appeared to be dominating down the flanks.

The game was almost certainly sealed just before the break when John Sutton launched a kick forward that bounced awkwardly for the Helens defence, leaving Joel Reddy to rush in and touch down to make it 24-0.

St Helens were given no respite in the second half and Sydney clinched a fifth try of the game when Luke Keary picked up the pieces from an audacious Reynolds kick to move things to 30-0.

The action wasn't over for Reynolds and company, with Chris McQueen and Reddy returning again later in the half to give the Souths a clinical 39-0 victory on Merseyside.
