Wigan boss Roberto Martinez claims that his side didn't deserve to lose following Saturday's defeat to Fulham.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has insisted that his side didn't deserve to lose Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Fulham.

Former Latics striker Hugo Rodallega opened the scoring at the DW Stadium to condemn the hosts to their third loss of the campaign.

"I think overall I don't think we deserved to lose," said Martinez. "You look at what Fulham did, it's create a few chances, they had more chances than we would have liked, we needed more intensity in our defensive play.

"Scoring goals is a must if you want to get a positive result, I don't think we deserved to lose, both teams did enough to get something out of the game."

Next up for Wigan is a trip to West Ham United on Tuesday in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
