Roberto Martinez thinks that Wigan have "phenomenal potential" to get their season back on track.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes that the Premier League side can improve their form after a lacklustre start to the season.

The Latics currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League table after a run of six defeats.

Despite the unwanted start, Martinez is optimistic that his squad has "phenomenal potential" to climb up the table.

"At the moment it has been difficult because there has been no reward for the effort and good things we have done," Martinez told talkSPORT.

"I believe we have phenomenal potential. We are a very young squad but the potential and attitude has been phenomenal. The talent is there."

Wigan take on Fulham at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
