Torino forward Ciro Immobile backs his teammate Alessio Cerci to win a place in Italy's squad for this summer's World Cup finals.

Torino forward Ciro Immobile has backed his teammate Alessio Cerci to win a place in Italy's squad for this summer's World Cup finals.

The two players were both on the scoresheet for Torino as they beat Hellas Verona on Monday evening to move up to seventh in the Serie A table.

"In the second half we became more compact," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"The manager told us what to do, we were good and now we can enjoy it. We are in a good place in the league table, today we showed what we are made of.

"Alessio [Cerci] deserves the World Cup, I will always have a little hope that I can make it one day."

Immobile has scored 13 goals in the league this season, while Cerci has found the back of the net 11 times.
