Mark Hughes hails Tony Pulis's job at Stoke City

Tony Pulis did a "great job" at Stoke City, according to current Potters boss Mark Hughes.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes believes that the reputation of his predecessor, Tony Pulis, has increased since he left the club.

Pulis was in charge of the Potters for seven years in his second spell, which saw the club earn promotion to the Premier League in 2008 and compete in their first ever FA Cup final in 2011.

However, Pulis left the club by mutual consent in 2013 and he has gone on to manage Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, whom Stoke face tomorrow.

Hughes told The Telegraph: "Tony did a great job here, he's got qualities and values that were needed for Stoke. The owners made a change because they wanted a different voice to move them to the next level.

"It was probably the right decision with hindsight and the right one for Tony. He will take a lot of credit for what he developed here but his profile has been enhanced since he left. We know how tough it will be this weekend."

Pulis has been in charge of West Brom since New Year's Day.
