Mark Hughes keen for Stoke City's season not to fizzle out

Stoke City's season will not fizzle out after their FA Cup defeat, insists manager Mark Hughes.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has said that he is determined to stop the club's season from fizzling out following back-to-back heavy defeats.

The Potters were knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, while they lost 4-1 to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Stoke sit 10th in the Premier League table and are 11 points clear of the relegation zone, while they are 12 points away from a European place.

Hughes told reporters: "We're absolutely determined not to allow that to happen. We've had a good season up to this point, two games won't change that.

"The last two games have knocked the stuffing out of us somewhat. But we've a week now, we can pick ourselves up, and we'll go again, we'll be fine.

"It hurts me whenever we get beaten, but I'm pleased for Blackburn that they've progressed. They're a good club. I had a fantastic time here, but I certainly didn't want this to be at my expense."

Stoke next face Aston Villa on Saturday.
