Who could Tottenham Hotspur face in the last 16 of the Champions League?

Sports Mole looks at who Tottenham Hotspur could come up against in the last 16 of the Champions League, including Barcelona, Juventus and PSG.

Tottenham Hotspur went into their final Champions League group game knowing that their place in the knockout rounds was already confirmed, making their 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich effectively meaningless.

The North Londoners shipped 10 goals in total from their two games against the German giants, but in Jose Mourinho have a boss looking to join Bob Paisley, Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane as the only managers to have won the trophy three times.

No-one has ever achieved that feat with three separate teams, although Mourinho's quest to do just that could be impacted by the fact that they are in pot two alongside Atalanta BC, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Lyon, Napoli and Real Madrid.

Mourinho is certain to avoid two of his former clubs, then, while they cannot be drawn against Liverpool, Manchester City and group-stage opponents Bayern Munich either.

Tottenham will therefore face one of the five remaining teams from pot one: Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig or Valencia.

Mourinho has had his own battles against Barcelona down the years, but Spurs have never beaten the Spanish giants in four previous attempts, although a draw at Camp Nou last season did confirm their place in the knockout rounds, ultimately enabling them to go all the way to the final.

Juventus are the only other one of Tottenham's potential opponents that they have faced before, being knocked out of the competition by the Italian champions in 2017-18.

Spurs will learn their fate when the draw begins at 11am in Nyon on Monday, with the first legs due to take place on February 18 and 19.
