Robert Lewandowski will not be allowed to leave Bayern Munich this summer, according to the German club's new head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Lewandowski, 27, scored 42 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern last term and has a contract at the Allianz Arena until 2019.
Speculation of a summer move to Real Madrid has not gone away, however, and at the end of May, the Pole's representative Cezary Kucharski revealed that the Spanish giants wanted to bring the striker to Madrid in this transfer window.
Ancelotti, however, has insisted that Real Madrid "do not need" the Polish international, who will not be permitted to leave the Allianz this summer under any circumstances.
"Real Madrid have many fantastic players, including [Karim] Benzema, [Gareth] Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, Real don't even need Lewandowski," Ancelotti told Sportbild. "And even if they did, Bayern would not sell Lewandowski. Why should we let go one of the best strikers in the world voluntarily?"
Lewandowski has netted 67 goals in 100 games for Bayern since making the move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2014.
